The Power of a Pozi-Zap
Spreading Silent Positivity is a Key to Inner Happiness
Right now, you’re probably asking “What the hell is a Pozi-Zap?”
I invite you to read on.
The random discovery of an online community in 2020, turned out to be transformative. In a year of change and uncertainty, two simple actions I learnt were life-changing.
The first was the discovery of this thing called a “Pozi-Zap”. The second was breathwork.
More of that later.
A Pozi-Zap is a powerful wish you silently send out to someone — a stranger — as they walk towards you.
Without telling them, you spread this silent love to whoever crosses your path. And secretly zap them with positivity.
Sounds bonkers I know, but stick with it.
It could be “I wish you peace and happiness”
“I wish you good health always”
“I wish you joy”
“I wish you a happy day”
Or just “Be Happy”
Now. I walk or run daily in my local park. Usually, when I smile or attempt to greet a stranger, it is, more often than not, met with a mumbled “hello”. Or else, averted eyes.
It’s the British way.
This sounds crazy, but when I send out my silent good vibrations. Something changes.
Before I get a chance to coax a good morning from a miserable looking stranger — they greet me first!!!Some with a big smile, some with a cheery “Good Morning!” but almost EVERY person greeted me first!
Does pozi-zapping really have the power to change the energy field?!
I think YES!
Is it Quantum Physics? I’m an Arts, not a Science person, so not remotely qualified to answer that. However, it does seem that way…
The Beach Boys sang about “Good Vibrations” so can it be that simple? Spread silent love and feel good?
I’m saying it is.
Dr Bruce Lipton and Dr Joe Dispenza are among those who agree that our thoughts can affect our brain, body and life. Both positively and negatively. They suggest that our thoughts have the power to create or eradicate disease — or dis-ease as the late Louise Hay described it.
Certainly, the pozi-zaps given out give a good ROI. When the vibration bounces off the recipient, it sends that love right back to the sender.
It creates a double positive. Win-win.
Breathwork
At the end of 2020, I was completing my research for a Master’s degree and about to write the thesis.
Mild panic pervaded me night and day. Had I left it too late to write 25,000 words before the looming deadline??
Intermittent hyper-ventilation became my normal breathing pattern.
In search of some inner-calm, I came across a movement on Instagram, called Breathpod.
During the lengthy UK lockdown, Stuart Sandeman, the brains and the breath behind Breathpod, held daily morning sessions purely focusing on breathing. Ably assisted by his partner, Nova, they mixed ambient tunes with teachings on the power of the breath.
Using various techniques, Stuart guided the “Breathpodders” through each Instagram live on the transformative effects of — well, breathing.
A favourite take-away technique of mine, is Box Breathing. It’s as it sounds. Visualise a box and breathe in a square. You breathe in for the count of 4, hold the breath for 4, gently breath our for 4 and hold again for 4. And repeat for a few minutes.
It can be as exhilarating as a cold shower, or as soothing as a warm blanket.
Who knew?!
Sandeman, (weirdly similar to Sandman right?) says the breath can replace coffee as an energiser. Or be used to calm an anxious or overactive mind. It is also a great aid to restful sleep.
And as he rightly points out — you can take your new breathing techniques everywhere and use the breath at any time.
Perfect.
Breathwork became my go-to tool for creating calm before a day of academic writing.
A few months later, when a cataclysmic health event to my significant other sent my world into freefall, Breathpod saved me from spiralling further.
It became a spiritual balm as much as a physical tranquiliser.
Spending the first half an hour of each morning just breathing with others, was truly transformative.
It is similar to yogic breathing, but more focused and intense. Worries are wiped away, creating a momentary sense of calm that can continue throughout the day.
By utilising the breath, holding the breath and breathing into the diaphragm, energy starts to shift. Simply changing the breathing, changes the body chemistry. Stopping terrifying, invasive thoughts before they grow out of control.
Changing the breath can release energy. Sometimes that means hysterical laughter. Other times floods of tears come out of nowhere.
We are assured this pent-up emotion, is just Energy in Motion.
The Breathpod sessions bring together a collective of people from all over the world. United in breathwork. While there are other practitioners to assist you master the power of breathing, Breathpod worked for me.
Wim Hof has similar techniques. Albeit with a bigger dose of machismo. Still, the aims and end results are the same. Simple techniques for a healthier mind and body.
Stuart and Nova are taking a hiatus from the daily lives, but all the sessions are saved on the Breathpod IGTV. I encourage you give breathwork a try. I can’t recommend it enough.
It’s simple, free and could change your life.
I am sending you a pozi-zap right now. Pow!
